How Does the Sun Produce Energy?
Inside the Sun’s core, nuclear fusion converts hydrogen into helium, releasing enormous energy. This energy travels outward through the Sun’s layers and reaches Earth in about 8 minutes as sunlight.

In about 5 billion years, the Sun will expand into a Red Giant, swallowing Mercury and Venus. Eventually, it will shrink into a White Dwarf, marking the end of its life cycle.
